Why I Blog

Over the years, I have blogged on several topics and platforms:

Foodiedame: Some time ago, I had enough time to try cooking recipes, discover indigenous foods, and write about them to educate others. That time has passed, and someone else now manages foodiedame.com. This was my second personal blog, and it helped me stay in food and agriculture until I figured out what to do with a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture.

The Concerned Girlfriend: This blog started as an avenue to write about growing up as a woman and random, normal experiences. Now, a bunch of us women dedicate some time to sharing similar experiences, hoping to reach the next young woman who is asking the internet about her random, strange, but normal experience. We are open to having contributors and more random stories.

Della Invisible: This is my medium for random musings about life in general. From realizations about what makes London different from an average German city to things that make us appreciate familiar relationships or why, no matter how much we like to pursue gender equality, gender balance in personal relationships is complicated.

My journey with writing dates back to my teenage years, when I would be upset or happy, and instead of telling my parents this, I would write them a letter before I departed for the boarding house for another school term. I would put this letter under their pillow for them to find after I was gone. Easy. They read it, probably forgot about it before I returned home for a holiday, and we moved on.

I love writing and blogging gives me a medium to do this for different topics. Writing is also my other reason for choosing research. The first is my continuous yearning for knowledge, my appreciation for science, and the amusement that comes with deep thinking and synthesizing insights. Figuring out the insights from a research activity can sometimes be damning, but how else could I best use my overthinking skills?

Beyond blogging, I look forward to reviewing and becoming an academic and non-academic editor someday. I think this task will also be very much enjoyable.
